Kentucky Oaks Runner-Up Liora Out A Few Months Following Training Injury – Horse Racing News

Liora gallops at Churchill Downs prior to her second-place finish in the Kentucky Oaks

Liora, the 3-year-old daughter of Candy Ride who finished second in the Kentucky Oaks May 3, underwent surgery Tuesday on her right hind leg, the Daily Racing Form’s Marty McGee reported.

The injury to the filly’s leg occurred in a gallop this week at Churchill Downs.

Dr. Larry Bramlage performed the surgery at Rood & Riddle Equine Hospital in Lexington, Ky., and reported to trainer Wayne Catalano that everything went well.

“It’s not the kind of thing that’s career-ending,” said Catalano.

In eight career starts, Liora has two victories and has finished no worse than fourth, collecting three runner-up checks this year in stakes races,…
